BMW has always been known to share in the fun of April Fool's day and this year was no different. Building on the hype of their 2012 Olympic Games sponsorships, BMW may have created their best April Fool's prank yet.
On April 1st, 2012 BMW put out a print ad in UK newspapers showcasing a new technology that purported to assist Olympic athletes train. The product? The "BMW Driverless Coach." The system claimed to 'motivate' runners and push them to go faster. Wouldn't you run faster if you had a car chasing you?
Not only that, but like a coach, the BMW Driverless Coach will broadcast words of encouragement to you, saying things like "Keep it moving, fatty!"1 If you are to tire from running you can't cheat and hop in the car to drive home either because it has a Lock Out feature to prevent you from taking the easy way out.
Here at BMW Gallery of Norwell we think it was a clever April Fool's joke and BMW should be applauded for having a sense of humor. If you are, in fact, looking for a new or used BMW come down to our BMW dealership today on 98 Accord Park Drive in Norwell, MA 02061.
